Helsinki, Eiranranta today.

Heard of the legendary Summit Series? It was known at the time as the Canada–USSR Series, an eight-game ice hockey series between the Soviet Union and Canada, held in September 1972. Tretiak and Kharlamov against Clarke and Esposito. Cold War and good old tv-times.

Käpylän Maanantai and LaLiNi ended their series today. The final game between the two teams was played at sea ice in Eira Beach.

This Summit Series started in December 2020 with totally five games played all over Helsinki. LaLiNi beat Käpylä four times out of five.

Taking care of business.

Goals and games matter, but I guess few people know the Final Score. Skilled players goofing around and having fun is more important. Folks watch. Wanna play, too. Also, Save Pond Hockey.

Gear up!

It’s three 20 minutes periods, but according to players periods are usually between 28 and 34 minutes long.

When the going gets tough.

Skates, helmet, gloves and a hockey stick is needed. And a few friends. Want to watch? Just be there.

Eyes on the puck.

Referee, then? Couldn’t see one. Did not need one.

Stop and go.

Next Summit Series, or Pipohokiliiga, Pond Hockey League, is next Winter. If there is a winter.

We got this!
